Hello Friends of DACHS,
If you are like many others, we imagine your time spent in quarantine has allowed you to create deeper, more meaningful bonds with your pets. You might have walked new trails in the desert with your pup by your side or had your cat take up residence in your lap as you binged Netflix shows.
Unfortunately, it hasn’t been this simple for all of our friends and neighbors. Those who lost their jobs or had their work hours cut as a result of the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic may have had the same comfort of their pet’s company, but when an emergency veterinary bill came up to keep them healthy, they had to turn to the Doña Ana County Humane Society for help. And with the cancellation of our key fundraising events such as Yappy Hour and our Paws & Claws Road Rally, we have strived to get creative with ways to build support for the programs that we offer that change—and save—the lives of the four-legged friends in our community.
Fortunately, we also have some amazing two-legged friends who believe in our mission. Meet Bill and Hannah Monsimer, retired educators from Las Cruces Public Schools who are known throughout the animal welfare community for their hard work in making our community better for pets. While teaching, Bill and Hannah coordinated and fully financed their own spay/neuter trap and release program for feral cats living at a local high school. They also have been known to ask friends and family to support animal organizations with monetary donations, pet food—and even cat litter—in their honor for anniversaries and birthdays.
The Monsimers are stepping up to allow us to make even more of an impact during these times. They have once again shown their overwhelming generosity and support to allow you to Double your impact for DACHS! Starting August 1, any donation you give will be matched –dollar for dollar—up to $2,500.
Are you ready to make a difference for pets that are in desperate need of a veterinary visit? You can donate $125 and your gift will be matched by $125, ensuring a veterinary voucher for $250 is available for a local pet. Would you like to help support programs that allow a furry friend to receive a $50 voucher for vaccinations? Give $25 and it will be matched by $25. Through this campaign, you can give any amount (up to $2,500) and your donation will be doubled!
It is because of your support that one more person can be a hero to their best friend and give their pets the medical care they deserve. Please consider making a contribution today to help keep people and pets in our community together!
With heartfelt thanks from the people and pets we serve,
April Anaya
